This donation marks 10 years of giving to the local organization totaling and the 10th Anniversary of The Giving Tree program which started with the first donation to the Hardy Fund. The Roy Hardy Benevolent Fund provides support to local families who have been devastated by medical illness. The foundation helps pay medical bills not covered by insurance. David Hevia, owner of the jewelry store, said “We are pleased to once again make a donation to the Hardy Benevolent Fund to help those less fortunate. Roy Hardy inspires us year after year with his commitment to the community and reinforces our belief that charity begins in our own neighborhoods.” The Giving Tree is a charity project supported by Kiefer Village Jewels' employees and customers. Proceeds from watch battery replacements and watch band adjustment are placed on the Giving Tree for donation to the charity of the month. However, anyone can place a donation on the Giving Tree whether shopping or not and everyone is encouraged to do so. The idea is based on the children's book by Shel Silverstein. Kiefer Village Jewels is located at 37850 Meridian Avenue in Dade City and 24144 SR 54 in Land O’ Lakes.
