Conflict Diamonds Statement – June 2006
Kiefer Village Jewels is committed to giving you the confidence that every diamond we sell is backed up with the uppermost levels of integrity. We assure you that our diamonds are represented with the highest degrees of accuracy and disclosure. Since 1997, we have practiced strict policies maintaining a conflict-free diamond business
Kiefer Village Jewels guarantees that all our diamonds originate from conflict-free origins or processes. In general, much of our diamond inventory originates in Canada, Russia, India, and the United States. Only a small portion of our diamonds originate from the African Region – and in these cases – we only do business with diamonds supplied by companies that are contractually obliged to the DTC Diamond Best Practice Principles and the Kimberly Process.
The Kimberly Process and the DTC Diamond Best Practice Principles ensure that these diamond sightholders observe the highest professional and ethical standards in respect of business, social and environmental practices. Compliance with these principles is also verified by an independent third party. Kiefer Village Jewels and all DTC Sightholders believe it is completely unacceptable to tolerate conflict diamonds and/or human suffering in any way and we fully support the Kimberley Process.
All rough and polished diamonds sold by DTC Sightholders must comply with the Kimberley Process and be accompanied by a System of Warranties guarantee. They are also independently audited to ensure probity of the Kimberley Process.
It is historically documented that the diamond, gemstone, and precious metal industries have been significant contributors to the causes of humanity. The jewelry industry and jewelers across America are leaders in charitable giving and fundraising. The economies and social conditions of many countries are improved greatly as a result of these industries. The industry has multi-cultural roots that go back generations.
This is our commitment to you. In turn, you can feel confident that your jewelry purchases help to solve these situations and improve the human condition in many parts of the world.
We want to support your efforts in making an informed decision that supports the ecological, sociological, and human conditions throughout the world we share.
Respectfully,
David Hevia
President
